Interview with Pro Triathlete Moka Best

Hi there! the interview of the week is with the Pro Triathlete Moka Best.

1) Personal info
 Name: Moka Best
 Age: 26
 Nationality: American
Profession: Full time Mommy/part time triathlete
 Residency/Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Other Interests/Hobbies: horseback riding, traveling, photography, making people smile :D

2) How did you start tri?
I started tri's four years ago after having my 4th baby in an effort to lose the baby weight. I loved it and was addicted and decided to get competitive. I never grew up swimming or running so it's taken a lot of elbow grease, hard work and dedication.
3) What is your best discipline?
Transition and eating ;) I'm strongest on the bike. I've been cycling for 6 years and live in the mountains so I do a lot of climbing.
4) What about your train routine?
Our focus this season is swimming and running in an effort to get me ready for ITU next year. I swim around 4500meters - 5000 meters 5 days a week. My coach is determined to make a swimmer and runner out of me. I'm on the track at least once a week and also have an intense and high run volume. Basically every workout HURTS!
5) What kind of tri races do you your prefer (70.3, IM, olympic)?
I love Olympic distance. I want to make the 2016 Olympic team and race in RIO!!! The speed and intensity is so fun. The precision and execution on race day has to be perfect and comes down to a science. I also love all the race tactics involved in ITU.
6) What "tips"  could you give to who wants start triathlon?
Don't give up! You never know how close you are to accomplishing your goals. They may seem so far away and hard to reach but are probably closer than you think.

7) What are your plans to the future (in the triathlon)?
Train. A lot. Lord knows I need it! I want to gain experience this year and focus on ITU next year.
8) Your fans from Brazil would like to know when you will race here?
2016 Olympics (fingers crossed!!) but hopefully sooner :)
